About the Project
Synopsis
Executive produced by Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson, Fightland is set in the heart of London and follows an emotionally charged revenge story centred on family, power and betrayal — starring Nicholas Pinnock, Howard Charles, Deborah Ayorinde and Max Brown.
The Music
Approach
Early conversations with the showrunners kept circling one word: propulsive. Saunderson built the score around a single thematic idea tied to the Marshall family, adapting and reshaping it across the series depending on what's unfolding on screen.
Given the show's London setting, he felt it was important to acknowledge the influence of UK hip-hop and grime — so he brought in producer Swindle, and together they merged their musical identities into what they began calling "cinematic grime": live strings chopped into loops and blurred with synth basses, electronic drums and hard-hitting kicks. The Marshall family's music leans into classical grandeur and legacy, while Duke's revenge storyline pulls from grittier textures — bowed metals, manipulated acoustic guitar, and pulsating string ostinatos — to create a very different musical identity for each side of the story.
